New session for B.Sc Biotechnology 2010-2011, commenced on Wednesday, July 14, 2010. Students were welcomed to the institute with the procession of Tilak ceremony and were then introduced to the organization, its activities along with a brief introduction to their faculty and other members of the organization. A lecture on Biotechnology and its Application was delivered by Dr. Sarika Gupta to make students aware about the field biotechnology and its application along with carrier prospective. At the end of the session Dr. Aparna Data (Executive Director Dr. B. Lal Institute of Biotechnology) interacted with the students and delivered a welcome note. Students were also made to visit institution and were briefed about instrumentation and its use in laboratories.

Two days Training was conducted by Dr. B. Lal Institute of Biotechnology in collaboration with Ace Vision Health Consultants Pvt. Ltd. at Apex Hospital, Jaipur on June 18^th and 19^th, 2010, on the topic “Hospital Infection Control Practices”. During the training session the participating Doctors and Health Care Workers from different hospitals of Jaipur were briefed with the mandatory procedures and practices for application of infection control practices in their health care settings as per the NABH guidelines.

Debate and Quiz for Biotechnology Industrial Training Students on June 19^th, 2010. Students from different institutes pursuing training actively participated in the event. Debate on current and upcoming biotech topics like Designer Baby, Genetically Modified Organism, Recombinant Products and Food Insecurity was held.

Organized one day Seminar June 1st, 2010 on “Scope of Biotechnology” & “Use of Biotechnology in Agriculture”. Dr. Aparna Datta, Executive Director, Dr. B.Lal Institute of Biotechnology welcomed all the Agriculture students. Presentation was given by Mr. Gokulendra Singh on “Career and Scope of Biotechnology”.The focus was given on various branches of Biotechnology which can be opted to have a bright in Biotechnology.

The seminar proceeds with another Presentation by Ms. Shubhi Sharma on “Use of Biotechnology in Agriculture” this part of seminar was focused on Different Biotechnological Techniques used in agriculture and use of genetically modified crops to increase nutrient availability in crops.

Teacher’s workshop was organized on February 24,2010.The objective of this workshop is to acquaint the teachers with the basic Techniques involved in the field of biotechnology mainly Plant Tissue Culture and PCR.

Talk on “Spirituality in Science and Management” on February 18,2010.The lecture was given by Dr. Dipak Shukla, Director (Admin), Pushpawati Singhania Research Institute for liver, renal & digesive diseases.The lecture covered insight of spirituality in relation to health, wellness & management in use.

Workshop on “Techniques in Biotechnology” held on November 27,2009.The workshop was organized by Dr. B. Lal Institute of Biotechnology in collaboration with Indian Science Congress Association, Jaipur Chapter,Jaipur. The objective of this workshop is to acquaint the students with the basic Techniques involved in the field of biotechnology.

World Ozone Day was celebrated in Dr. B. Lal Institute of Biotechnology campus on September 16, 2009. On this occasion, an Intra college Poster Presentation Competition was also organised based on the theme Ozone Depletion & Environmental Changes.

The function also had encouraging speeches by two eminent Environmentalists of Rajasthan, Prof. K. P. Sharma, Dept. of Botany, University of Rajasthan and Prof. A. B. Gupta, Dept. of Civil Engineering, MNIT, Jaipur .

The main objective of the event was to create more awareness among the youth regarding the safety of environment with emphasis on the protection of the Ozone Layer.

On the occasion of World Literacy Day i.e. September 8, 2009, an Intra college Essay Writing Competition was conducted at Dr. B. Lal Institute of Biotechnology. The theme of the competition was “What changes do you expect to have in the present education system?” Students’ performances were judged and were awarded with certificates.

Dr. B. Lal Institute of Biotechnology celebrated Fresher’s Day “MILAP-2009” on 22nd August, 2009 to welcome its new students of B.Sc. Biotechnology, M.Sc. Biotechnology & Clinical Microbiology and DMLT.
The celebration included various cultural activities performed by the students.
Aman & Sakshi were selected as Mr. & Ms. Freshers 2009 and were felicitated by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Sunita Gupta.
The society members, college staff members & faculty were also the part of the event.
Dr. B. Lal Institute plans to organize such events in near future in order to have personal & social development of the students

A talk on the subject “Biotechnology & its Scope” on 8th July’ 09, by Prof. Umakant, Former Head, Department of Botany and Director, School of Life Science, University of Rajasthan.
